So one of the annoyances I learned how to handle is something making a bothersome noise. Here you just click into the pie menu and hit mute on the guilty prim:
The first thing he talked about was stopping the "show updates" function from creating these weird blue triangles from appearing while new things were happening in the world. He showed us how to shut them off by going to the "client" menu. Of course, I don't have client menu in RW, so I couldn't perform that task.
He also showed us how to stop effects from the user side of things, by grabbing the free "stop viewer side effects script." Of course this seems particular to second life, and I wouldn't expect to find this in RW.

e) How to Copy a prim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chqyS08db-U&feature=related
First let me say that the link indicated in the google assignments doc is the same link pointing to the "linking prims" tutorial. So, I simply looked around on you tube for a video that showed how to copy prims (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwHFxN1yFOg&feature=related). I had already learned how to do this in one of the other tutorials, by holding down the shift key while one prim is selected, and then "dragging away" a copy of that prim for relocation elsewhere.
So, here is my new prim:
I hold the shift key while dragging away from the prim, and you can see I've got myself an exact copy of the original prim:

f) Linking prims http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chqyS08db-U&feature=related
Watched the video on linking, and tried it. Here you'll see I've created two separate spheres:
Then I selected both spheres and went to the tools menu to perform the link. Alas! No link command. So I have to assume that either linking cannot be done in RW, or perhaps I don't have permissions to do it. I could not find any place where the link command was available:

How to use the building grid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k-XoIPycm8&feature=related
So I watched the video on the building grid and had no idea it was so configurable. First, take a look at this neat picture of the grid:
Now, after I increase the snap size and also the opacity, you can see it a bit more clearly, you can also see how much bigger the mesh of the grid has become:
Finally in this image below, you can see that I am placing my pyramid using the grid snap feature, simply by dragging while keeping the mouse cursor within the field of the grid itself:

c) How to use Undo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKIVPTVh5IY&feature=channel
Ok, so I watched the video on undo. I get it, cntrl-z, undo, etc. This is all pretty standard stuff. Though I admit I was surprised to see that they decided to implement undo separately for each object. That is sort of unique. Of course, that is also the reason why you have to make sure a given object has the focus before you can undo it. But I guess in this world building situation this type of undo would be preferred to a global undo.
So, here's how I tried to do it. First, I create a primitive:
Then I move the primitive somewhere far. Not only is it far away, but I got it stuck in a rock and a wall at the same time. This is not good:
Of course this is the point at which I want to undo my mistake. And I really expected undo to be there. But lo and behold, no undo. Apparently, RW does not yet allow for undo. So instead of taking the screenshot of the undo process, I'm simply left with having to delete the created object and starting again. Of course, I could have just moved the object back to where I started, but since I created expressly to demonstrate undo, and there is no undo to be found, I decided to just delete it.

b) Navigating in small spaces http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63bxfweC5iE&feature=related
So, I watched the video about navigating in small spaces and I had already used mouselook a lot, so this didn't end up being new information to me.
So here I am in a tight space. Oh no!
No worries. When I enter mouselook mode I can easily walk myself out without having to deal with the bizarre camera collisions that invariable occur in this situation. See:
What I did not find though was the cool feature talked about in the video, where you could bring up the map of the world and teleport yourself quickly to another location.

a) How to change your appearance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqbuMi5N97c
So, after watching all of the cool things in Second Life that you can do to your avatar, I was hoping I could do the same in RW. However, I still have not been able to really change anything other than create new clothes/shapes/parts and wear them. For the life of me I cannot find out how to do cool things like change their textures/colors, etc. I just don't see anything like that in RW. Am I doing something wrong I wonder, or do these capabilities not yet exist in RW.
So, look at my new Avatar. I was able to create new clothes, and a new (plumper) shape, but I just can't seem to do anything with them. The properties window isn't allowing me to do anything cool with the objects I've created. What the?
